Citizens Advice now delivering services in Walworth

We are happy to announce extension of Citizens Advice provision in Southwark by opening our new site in Walworth.

The premises are situated at 6-8 Westmoreland Road, SE17 2AY (see map above).

We are open for drop in advice Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 10:00am – 1:00 pm.

Pre-booked appointments will be available at the new site throughout the week.

Keep an eye on this space for news about other services planned  from our new Wallworth Citizens Advice site.

 

As holidaymakers prepare for the summer, Citizens Advice Southwark is on hand in the event of flight issues

Traditionally over July and August, Citizens Advice Southwark sees a surge in people who have issues with flight delays, cancellations, and delayed and lost luggage.

With many now packing up to go on their summer holidays, Citizens Advice Southwark is offering travellers top tips to help their holidays run more smoothly.

  • As part of our membership with the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (ENEI) you have access to their guide on employing carers

We have also produced new guidance to help you support volunteers who are carers, raise awareness of caring, and promote volunteering opportunities to carers.

Scams Awareness Week 2019

Join us at the next Advice & Support Roadshow at The Green, Nunhead Community Centre, SE15 3QQ

Our next Advice & Support Roadshow will be taking place between 10am and 2pm on Monday 20th May 2019 at The Green, Nunhead Community Centre, 5 Nunhead Green, Nunhead, London SE15 3QQ.

This event is for anyone who is having problems with benefits (including Universal Credit) or debt, or help with budgeting or with getting online. In addition there will be staff there from the DWP, from the Council (including the Council Tax team, Local Support and Housing Allocations), as well as from voluntary sector organisations providing employment support and advice.

Please come along and if you are organisation you can refer anyone who needs advice and support with any of the above.

Help to Claim

Today Citizens Advice Southwark has launched a new service called Help to Claim for those who need help to apply for Universal Credit in Southwark.

People will now be able to get support from us, from submitting their Universal Credit application to getting their first full payment.

Help will be tailored to the individual and will be available face-to-face, over the phone on 0800 144 8 444 and online through our Help to Claim enquiry form

This may include assistance with the online application form or help with providing evidence like childcare costs and medical certificates.

Local organisations who work with people who need help applying for Universal Credit can also signpost into the service here

Citizens Advice Southwark at Parliament Select Committee hearing

Following a national campaign to try and halt the roll-out of Universal Credit, Citizens Advice Southwark was invited to present evidence in support of our campaign to a parliamentary committee. We were represented at the meeting by our Advice Services Manager, Nicola Smith, who answered questions from the committee members and detailed our clients’ experiences.
